Here are is a list of words with their corresponding definitions.
unique- being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.
weird-induce a sense of disbelief or alienation in someone.
abnormal-deviating from what is normal or usual, typically in a way that is undesirable or worrying.
awkward-causing or feeling embarrassment or inconvenience
The list goes on and on and on.
I have been called all of these at one point in my life. All of them. But the thing about this list and all the other words like this that you can think of, is that they are labels. Now we must beg the question, what is a true meaning of a label?
Label-a classifying phrase or name applied to a person or thing, especially one that is inaccurate or restrictive.
Now I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty self clarifying and straight up. We as humans with our un-godly flesh, label each other and ourselves. We put inaccurate and restricting labels on ourselves! "Fat, ugly, no good, awkward, terrible, clumsy, etc." We speak these all the time with no disregard whatsoever.
I think most of the time it's not because we do it purposely, but have become creatures of constantly talking down about others and ourselves. We fail to realize once again, the life and death is in the power of the tongue! Eventually, if you tell yourself everyday and tell people you are clumsy. your going to believe it. And no sooner after you believe it, your going to live it. If you speak that everyday, you will be the most clumsiest person you know. Power and life resides there.
We have to be people who takes heed in our words. What we say, what we do, what we think. It;s a conscious effort and honestly, it's hard.
Really, really hard.
But let me let you in on something; it's a whole lot easier if you release God to control and lead you in noticing your words.
Now is anyone perfect and will you become perfect by the next day? NO! But it is a process. and you won't go anywhere if God isn't in control!
So try this, every time you feel the urge to jut throw out a label on yourself or some one, fill it up with something else. Whether it be a bible verse, music, or even just silence, stop yourself. Use kind words. It is just as important to build yourself up as it is to build others up. When you topple others down with words the same effect happens when you say it to yourself.
You are kind.
You are smart.
You are important.
You are beautiful.
You are lovely.
You are a lily among thorns.
you. are. loved.
