Thunder.
One of the things I cherish most in as storm is thunder.
It's loud. It's rambunctious. It's free.
But I think there is so many time as to where people in this life get scared of the thunder. We get so caught up in that with thunder comes lightening and with lightening there comes rain.
If you've ever ridden in a car while a storm is going on, usually, you can't really hear the thunder. Either your talking, the radio is going on, and your occupied. You are so caught up in the car ride, the people around you, the music playing, you forget about the thunder.
you totally and utterly forget about the thunder.
you forget that when there is thunder lightening comes.
you forget that when lightening comes the rain pours.
where am I going with this? I've already spent a few measly minutes of your time rambling on about thunderstorms and rain.
Here's where the connection happens.
You are still the passenger in the car, but this time, God is the thunder, His blessing is the rain, and the lightening are his wonders and miracles.
As for the car and the actions happening in it, well, they are the distractions of the world.
There are times in this life where we decide that we want to go our own way. We get "bored" of standing in God's pasture that is plentiful, easy going, and abundant of everything needed to suffice for this life. We decide to hop in the car.
The car is full of all the distractions. We get caught up in the world. Instead of our focus being on God like when we were with Him outside, we worry about what is in the world. The clothes, the shoes, the people, the music, the drama.
When we are in the car, we can't feel the rain, the blessings. They cannot reach us if we are sheltered. He can't pour out the blessings on us if we hide ourselves from getting wet.
When we are in the car, we are labeled and cramped. When you drive a car people usually know you by what you drive when you are looking for them, meeting them somewhere. You are known by who you are and not by what God made you.
Your cramped. In a car there is never enough room to be completely comfortable. You're always trying to live up to the expectations of the world and what they want you to be. There's never freedom to move around and be loud and just be you.
when you hear the thunder, and you see the lightening, and you feel the rain, you get nervous and decide to jump in the car. it's a logical safe place to hide from them. inside awaits the troubles of the world that are just too heavy to carry on our own.
but did we ever stop to notice, that maybe, just maybe,
rain is a good thing?
the purple and white lightening,
is a good thing?
the screaming and booming thunder,
is a good thing?
I'm here to tell you my dearest reader, they are.
you can scream and be free and have everything you've always wanted and nothing you ever needed and it comes so easily.
all of this because God provides.
If you trust him, step down out of the car, out of the world, everything falls into place.
His blessings and mercy come in a pouring rain
His promises, wonders, and miracles happen just like lightening
He hears your every call into the wilderness even when you don't hear Him like booming thunder.
show someone His radical love today readers,
-JR (:
