(Take 5)

Hello my dears! It's been a quick minute!

My favorite season, none other than autumn has begun and today is October 6th. Wow!

Where did all this time go? I've been so busy! Lots of dance and lots of singing and then lots of guitar.

Today I think I want to devote this post to one of my favorite things;

prayer.

Last night in my weekly youth group we were talking about prayer. I think when people first think of prayer they think of something or someone being wrong and that it needs fixing. So they pray. I frequently get asked to pray for other people. And don't twist it, praying for other people is important!!!

But here's the thing that got me thinking; what about me?

How often do we pray for ourselves?

We are so quick and fast to focus on the other people who need prayer and our friends and family, but do we pray for ourselves?

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--" 1 Timothy 2:1

I stumbled across this verse just yesterday. A key note on this verse that it say 'be made for ALL people".

Okay so. ALL people. Not just my friends. Not just my family. Not just my church. All people, including me. We get so anxious ready to jump on anything that comes our way. We help others, but do we prepare ourselves? DO we spend enough time working on ourselves?

Sometimes it's really hard to pray for ourselves. We get so good at giving all  our time in prayer praying about others and we finish it with a amen and feel good about ourselves. But we have to take a peek on the inside and look at 'me'.

If you don't know what to pray, say Jesus. There's power in the name of Jesus!

It doesn't have to be long. If you can't pray the whole five minutes, worship the rest of the time.

Another secret; there is no such thing as a perfect prayer.

Mathhew 6: 5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

You see? God knows exactly what we need before we even say anything! There are no specific words or a word quota that you have to meet; No public place you have to go! You just have to come as you before God and He will accept you, brokenness and all.

I'm gonna challenge you to take 5 minutes of your time. If it's when you get up, in the middle of the day, or just before you go to bed, take 5 minutes, put on some worship music, and pray for solely yourself. You'll see a change. It won't happen right away, after all, the Bible wasn't written in one day. But it will happen.

I love you beautiful readers.

All of you.
