Hey readers. Been a quick minute. I am writing out of nothing but emotion. But what can I say, emotions speak where other things can't. I've been leanrning a lit about trust. What it really means to have trust in someone or something. When you really break it down, here's what it means: trust- firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Now I believe that's a pretty straight forward definition. Not to hard right? Maybe doesn't appear to seem that hard. You put trust in your bed and when you lay down to sleep, you are confident in the fact that you will wake up the next morning, still laying in a good bed. Another example: You trust in your home to keep rain off you when you're inside. If you look at it, we put trust in quite a few things in this world. But here's the big whirl wind you've been waiting for; are we putting our faith in God first instead of the worldly things first? A very simple question yet perplexing to the mind. I for one have made this mistake many of times. I have a habit of trying to be everyone's friend, when in reality, not everyone wants to be your friend and some people aren't the best friend choices. Both have happened to me. I used to crave acceptance from people. Begging them to like me. I started opening my friend circles to about anybody who would speak to me. And its a very bad thing. When you don't keep countenance of your small circles, the wrong people get in your life. It surely doesn't take long either. See when the wrong people get in, they start influencing you. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked to a non believer." Only thing is most people only put this to marriage and dating. But truth be told, it goes for everything! If we are tied to a ungodly friend who we are constantly with that sins we will eventually start following their actions and sinning. Don't get confused on this, we are supposed to try to shine our light around sinners at all times, not avoid them. But we cannot keep close friends with them. This is where Romans 12:2 comes into play: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (here's a link to some really good verses on living in the world but not of it: http://www.openbible.info/topics/not_of_this_world) Coming to an end on this post, think about who and what you at putting your trust in. Whether it be your social position, popularity, people, clothes, etc.. Focus on if they have the right number on your list of importance. Pray for God to open you up and show you if you have wrong. Its always okay to be wrong and ask for forgiveness.
